DAY 18 SAT. SEPT. 21 NORTH SYDNEY - SHEDIAC

Beautiful weather sped us on our way from North Sydney. A long day through Cape Breton's rolling hills and the long reach of Bras d'Or lake. We noticed fall insinuate itself on to the countryside. The farms of central Nova Scotia were rolling and looked to be content, a good thing for farms. It all seemed familiar to us as we backtracked towards Truro and up to New Brunswick. Time was of the essence, as a sense of home bagan to tug, as though a gravitational field grabbed our car and tried to bring us westward.

But in New Brunswick, a new direction took hold: north and east again. We skirted Moncton and found our night's lodging in Shediac, a pretty town whose claim to fame is a statue of a giant lobster on the edge of town. We chuckled at the sight and the memories of the Wawa Goose, the Kenora Muskie, and Mel Lastman's Moose. No matter, we found our lodging and, to say the least, it was the most "low rent" place of the trip. We didn't care, we were tired and it was only for one night. We looked forward to what we thought would be our last good seafood dinner. We found an upscale restaurant in a lovely fine old building only to be profoundly disappointed by the whole experience. Let's just say it wasn't what we paid for.

Lessons learned. And so, to bed …….

On the road to Shediac … fall colours starting to show.

Fall appearing for a limited time only !
